One thing that you may want to consider is just recovering any kinds of loose couch cushions. You can really mix and match in the Southwest design style, especially if you have a neutral color sofa. In fact you may want to create a reversible cushion. This is going to allow you to have a neutral effect or to just really break up the more traditional Southwest blankets style with neutral colors.

You also might want to really consider toning down this Southwest decor. Traditionally it would feature a lot of leather fringe. It might have more of that painted effect to it. While this really does drive home the Southwest design style it's also pretty predictable. Instead, you could just try going with a plain leather throw pillow although this will be your most expensive option. It can even work on a more modern style of white couch. In this case, you might just want to go with a softer suede. Stay away from black or white leather and instead go for caramel or brown tones.

This could even use rich silver embroidery on top of a turquoise background that will mimic a lot of what we see in Southwest styles of jewelry. Just mix in some plain suede pieces in the same tone so that it doesn't become too formal. This is also a way that you can dress up a typical rustic couch.
