The excess fabric on a Boxed Corner does not need to be snipped if the fabric has a soft hand, but if rather stiff fabric is used I can see the advantage of snipping off the excessive fabric. If you want to wash your cover use a #5 continuous YKK zipper with a single slider this will allow you to remove the cover for washing.
